GreenDrop attends the Aston Winter Fun Festival and Tree Lighting, West Chester Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade

Next to spring cleaning, the holiday season is one of the most important times of the year for our partner charities. Once the giving spirit sets in, we watch in awe each year as our donors act selflessly by making contributions that will help our nation’s veterans, the blind, and those that benefit from the good works of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Philadelphia.

This year, we are excited to become more involved with the holiday festivities in two of our communities – West Chester and Aston, PA — and help spread some joy to the residents. On Friday, December 5, the GreenDrop team split up to attend Aston’s Winter Fun Festival and Tree Lighting and West Chester’s Old Fashioned Christmas Parade.

Presented by the Aston Township Parks and Recreation Department, the Winter Fun Festival kicked off at 6:30 p.m. with children listening to carolers as well as storyteller Granny Annie, followed by pictures with Santa, refreshments, and of course, the lighting of the tree. Throughout the evening, the Aston and Pennell Elementary School choirs set the holiday mood by performing season favorites. We’re also proud to report that the rain didn’t stop attendees from their overwhelming generosity in bringing boxes of household items for donation!

Meanwhile, in West Chester, our Community Marketing Coordinator, Sam Kresz, represented GreenDrop at the Old Fashioned Christmas Parade both in our booth, providing snacks, t-shirts, and gloves to parade-goers, and in the parade itself after decorating the GreenDrop car.

Thanks to the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce and the parade’s 5,000 volunteers, for an amazing event. We were so proud to be a part of it, and we now know why USA Today calls West Chester’s Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade “one of the top-10 places to experience the arrival of Santa Claus during the holiday season.” If you’re in the area and looking for more holiday fun, there are many more events to come during West Chester’s Old-Fashioned Christmas celebration.

Happy holidays, everyone!
