We have a day to be thankful, two days for bargains and now we have a day to give back! Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to giving. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
This campaign, fueled by social media and collaboration kicks off the charitable giving season. Now in its fourth year the Giving Tuesday movement connects diverse organizations, groups and individuals around the world for one common purpose, to encourage giving. There are many forms of giving including donating time, talents, resources and monetary giving.
Every year the Giving Tuesday movement gets bigger with over 30,000 partners in 68 countries including small businesses, government agencies, major corporations, as well as individuals and nonprofits, like our partner charity the National Federation of the Blind coming together.
You can join this movement in many ways. It can be as simple as getting together with your friends and family and doing something in your community. Like participating in a walk or volunteering at a shelter. But the giving doesn’t have to stop after Tuesday. You can continue to give all year.
Many non-profits accept monetary donations including our partner charity the National Federation of the Blind. And of course you can donate to any of GreenDrop’s partner charities including the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Philadelphia by donating your gently worn clothing and household items. You can donate year round at any of our GreenDrop charitable donation locations or by scheduling a charity home pickup!
Let us know if you’re participating in Giving Tuesday and how you continue to give year-round by leaving us a comment on our Facebook page!
