Time flies when you’re having fun. Well that couldn’t be truer for our time spent with our partner charity, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Philadelphia. It’s hard to believe that we’ve been working together for a year now!
The organization lives up to its motto: “neighbors helping neighbors” by providing some of the most basic necessities to our neighbors in need throughout Philadelphia. Things like food, shelter, clothing, transportation and emotional comfort.
Frédéric Ozanam in France founded the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul originally called the “Conference of Charity”, in 1833. After a short time the name was changed to honor its patron. In 1845 the organization made it’s way to America. Members organized locally around the world grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those in need.
Together, GreenDrop and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Philadelphia have changed the way people help their neighbors in need by adding charity home pickups, local GreenDrop sites and parish clothing drive. GreenDrop has successfully helped complete over 250 clothing drives helping to further the organization’s mission.
