Poverty awareness month

Did you know 1 in 6 Americans live in poverty? The 46 million people living in poverty are struggling to get the most basic of necessities like food and shelter. That is why our partner charity the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Philadelphia works hard to help our neighbors in need.

The Voice of the Poor (VOP), the advocacy arm of the Society is made up of members that strive to bring attention to issues critical to those living in poverty and need.

GreenDrop and the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Philadelphia have changed the way people help their neighbors in need by offering donors 3 ways to give.

First, something donors familiar with the Society may be used to, clothing drives. Throughout the country members organized locally set up clothing drives at parishes to benefit the society. GreenDrop’s logistic team coordinates drives with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Philadelphia. Together we have had over 200 successful drives in our year of working together.

Next for donors who can’t wait for the next drive at their parish, GreenDrop offers two methods of donating to help our neighbors in need. First there’s the option to do a charity home pickup. When the donor is ready they can give us a call or go online and schedule a charity home pickup at their convenience. Within 24 to 48 hours a GreenDrop driver will come pickup the donations from outside of the donor’s home and provide a tax-receipt.

And of course we have charitable donation drop-off locations for donors that want to give immediately. Simply pack the car with donations and head to the closest GreenDrop location where an attendant will unload donations and provide a tax-receipt from the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Philadelphia.

Which GreenDrop option do you use when you make your clothing donations to our partner charity the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Philadelphia? Would you consider donating using one of our other donation methods? Let us know in the comments
