GreenDrop takes a lot more than just clothing donations. Because we often send our items to thrift and secondhand stores, many people think all we take is clothing. However, we also accept many other things, such as small wooden furniture. Here we’ll tell you about what kind of furniture you can donate so that the next time you move or redecorate your home, you know where to bring your well-loved leftovers.
One of the most important things that you need to know about the types of furniture you can donate is that they must weigh 50 pounds or less. As much as you’d like to get rid of that old living room couch, we must adhere to weight limitations if we want to continue helping people through our charitable organizations like the Red Cross.
Not all donations are equal, unfortunately. If you’re planning to deliver a piece of furniture to us or have us pick it up from you, the piece must be in good condition. If there are scratches, dents, or other damage to the furniture, it won’t be much use to the people who will eventually receive it. Ensure that everything you are donating works properly and is in good condition before giving us a call.
In addition to the furniture being in good condition, it also must not be too dirty. If you’re digging an old end table out of the attic for donation, give it a quick once-over before you send it our way. You may need to clean it up a little before you can donate it. We’ll gladly take it off your hands as long as it meets these conditions.
Common Furniture Donations
For a few ideas for what you can donate, this list includes some of the common items we get that meet our criteria for donation:
- Coffee tables
- End tables
- Plant stands
You can use these items as a reference for the kind of furniture we tend to accept. If you ever have any question about a piece of furniture and whether you can donate it, don’t be afraid to give us a call and ask.
GreenDrop uses your donations to enact real change in the world, and you can help us do that with your furniture donations. Donating furniture is a great way to free up space in your home while also helping your fellow man in the process.
