The American Red Cross Donation Requirements

When donating your gently used items to the American Red Cross through GreenDrop, there are some donation requirements that need to be met. When you make an item donation to the American Red Cross through GreenDrop, the items are converted to critically needed cash by selling them to local thrift stores and charities. The money is then used by the American Red Cross to support its overall mission.

GreenDrop accepts gently used articles of clothing, shoes, blankets, bedding, household items, collectibles, kitchenware, games, toys, small appliances, electronics, sporting goods, baby items, and other useful goods. GreenDrop accepts a variety of gently used items to raise money for the American Red Cross. View GreenDrop’s complete list of acceptable items on its site, or give them a call if you have a question about a particular item.

Due to legal, regulatory, weight, and size restrictions, GreenDrop is unable to accept certain items. If GreenDrop is unable to accept an item you wish to donate, one of their friendly employees will take the time to fill out a card explaining why the item does not meet the requirements. GreenDrop is unable to accept tube tvs, computer monitors, furniture, beds, large collections of books, or any item weighing over 50 pounds.

If you have any questions about GreenDrop’s donation requirements call GreenDrop at 1-888-944-3767 and someone will gladly assist you. GreenDrop tries to accept every item that it possibly can in order to maximize the money earned for the American Red Cross.
